Description

Perfusion system

The concentration change for ions, neurotransmitters and of all possible sort of ligands is extremely important for modern-day patch-clamp recordings. High precision and easy to use perfusion systems are required to work on a single cell scale. Bio-Logic’s Rapid Solution Changer (RSC-200) is a multi-channel perfusion system that allows electrophysiologists to address these issues.

 

Multi channels, no cross-contamination

The perfusion head can accommodate up to 36 capillaries which provides unmatched experimental possibilities. The RSC-200 uses a principle known as “sewer pipes” in which the cell or the tip of the electrode (in excised-patch mode) is positioned close to the output of a capillary. The solution to be assayed flows out of the capillary at a moderate flow rate gravimetrically. The cell, exposed to this stream, rapidly equilibrates in the perfusion solution. The fact that all the solutions flow in individual tubes right to their end, eliminates any problems of dead volumes, washing and cross-contamination between the solutions to be assayed.

Software

RSC software has been designed for simple experiments setup. The platform is designed with two windows. One allows the manual control of the tubes, the other one allows an automatic control of the tubes. The program window for controling automatically the tubes is very userfriendly and allows to assess different parameters such as the time duration, the speed control, the valve selection etc… Notice that it is not compulsory to use RSC software with the RSC-200.  Other software can be installed for controlling the instrument.

The RSC-200 instrument is delivered with a 32-bits Windows software. The software permits the following operations:

  • manual positioning of the head
  • manual opening of the valves
  • resting Vhold setting
  • edit and download of a sequence where the following parameters can be exchanged at each step:
    • duration of stay in the active position for a given tube number
    • speed of solution change (head rotation)
    • choice of electrovalves to be opened/motorized syringes to start (if applicable)
    • stimulation pulse level ( range: +/-10 V) (RSC-200 only)
    • TTL signal activation (4 lines of signal available)
    • triggering of other auxiliary instruments

Software compatibility of the RSC-200 V2.00 software was tested sucessfully with WindowsXP Pro 32-bits, Windows Vista Business 32-bits, and Windows7 64-bits with the following configuration:

  • USB to RS-232C converter (Belkin F5U103)
  • USB to GPIB converter (National Instruments GPIB-USB-HS – software driver V2.8)

Complete, Simultaneous Photosynthetic Characterization

The JTS-150 brings the power of fast kinetics studies using multiple wavelengths with intensity control into a single experiment. With the JTS-150 and Smart-Lamp you can use a single experiment setup and collect data using up to nine wavelengths in real time on a microsecond time scale.  Perfect time correlation from a single sample allows you to view multi-center reactions in parallel or in sequence. The JTS-150 makes it possible to monitor every photosynthetic reaction in a sample with one setup.  In continuous mode data can be collected at a sub-microsecond rate for viewing faster reactions.

Absorbance and Fluorescence pump-probe spectrometer

The JTS-150 measures absorbance or fluorescence using combinations of detection LEDs and optical emitters.  Pulsed LED measurements (Joliot-type) can be acquired at 10 microseconds between samples (100  kHz).  Continuous measurements (not pulsed LEDs) can be acquired at 100 nanoseconds between samples (10 MHz).

The JTS-150  has  all applications and controls built in and is controlled from a web browser connected via local Ethernet allowing the instrument to be controlled from a PC, Mac or even a Linux based system either directly connected or remotely via the network connection.  This software architecture allows a sequencing interface that simplifies sequence design and data collection/analysis for researchers without years of experience and a full opto-electronic suite.

Smart-lamp for multi wavelength experiments

With the newly designed Smart-Lamp, you can measure any combination of the following in a single experiment: P700 at 705nm, Plastocyanin at 574nm and 735nm, Electrochromic shift at 520nm corrected at 546nm, Cytochrome b6f at 554nm and 563nm with baseline corrections at 546nm and 574nm, and Fluorescence with or without the flashprobe at 470nm to measure Primary Fluorescence parameters (Fo, Fm, Fv, Fp, Fv’, Fq’, Fm’, F’, Fm) and Calculated Fluorescence parameters (qE , qI, qL, qP, NPQ, max PSII photochemistry, PSII operating efficiency, PSII max efficiency, PSII efficiency factor or QA), OJIP, Fluorescence induction kinetics.  The smartLED array enables the observation of interactions between any of the photosynthetic parameters measured by the JTS-10/100 without the need for complicated experimental setups, in a single run, typically without any need for averaging.

 

Now you can obtain powerful insights into the regulation of linear, cyclic and alternative electron flows and the status of P700, the transmembrane potential, and fluorescence status and more simultaneously.

The MPG series: Precision, stability and power – perfect for in-house R&D or academia

The MPG-200 series is a high-end battery tester series made of two core configurations. The MPG-2 features 16 independent channels at 100 mA, whereas the MPG-205 offers eight 5 A channels. Both MPG battery cyclers are available with or without EIS capabilities.

The power of a high-end potentiostat/galvanostat, the simplicity of a battery cycler

MPG-200 series battery cyclers’ high-end specification has been designed to address the most demanding battery testing needs possible.
Equipped with five leads to connect to batteries with reference electrodes, the MPG-2 features 16 channels with a maximum current of +- 100 mA per channel, its voltage range of +- 10 V makes it suitable for any cell (half, full, symmetrical) configuration.

The MPG-205 features 8 channels at ± 5A. With its voltage range from -2 to + 9 V, this cycler has four electrode connections.
Both units share a 200 µs time-base/sampling rate, a remarkable 800 pA current resolution, and their dynamic range can lower their voltage resolution down to 5 µV.

Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) is available as an option and can run simultaneously on every channel from 20 kHz to 10 µHz.
Each channel can be equipped with a Pt-100 probe for temperature measurements and can interface external devices through analog and digital input/output.

Both units can be stacked in a five-position rack, giving users total autonomy to develop a bespoke system to perfectly fit their needs.
